ISLE is the creative duo consisting of Arjan de Wit, a musical producer and technical inventor, and Lise Low, a singer, lyricist and dreamer. We started working together with a mutual drive to write music that was truly free. We set out to discover what was inside of us that needed to come out; to find the diamonds in the rough that we already had and bring them to the world.

We started with our shared interest in music, but our creative venture has since expanded to sound and lighting installations, short films, imagery and stories. Arjan loves learning and inventing new things. For ISLE he’s made an interactive light decor and explored new talents in videography and electronic instruments. Next to singing, Lise also enjoys writing. We started to incorporate her stories into our live shows as spoken words and used them in other creative endeavours like short films and this book.

A Siren’s Call is the product of seven years of playful exploration. We have been planning on creating an album since we started together. However, driven by our passion to create, the journey has taken us down more than one ‘bunny trail’ as we discovered new things to explore and learn. About a year ago we decided to draw a line under this first chapter of ISLE and actually finish the album. Looking at the collection of songs, poetry, short films, spoken words and artwork we developed over the years, we realised it unintentionally all fit into one beautiful storyline. Lise has molded this storyline into the book you can purchase with the album. (go to www.aboutisle.com to find it) We believe that the story and artwork of each chapter deepens the experience of the songs and hope that these will enrich your enjoyment of the music.

Distilling seven years of artistic evolution into a single album and book leaves a lot of material on the cutting room floor. The World of ISLE is a website where exclusive content of ISLE can be enjoyed. There you can join our inner circle as an ISLE Explorer and view short films, music and writings that have not been publicly released as well as artwork, imagery and other ISLE experiments.
